No, you have not been fooled. There really is a free gift, but it is not one that I, Pastor Mike, can offer you. It is God's gift of eternal life. Lest you feel you've been had, I want to assure you this is no joke. It would be nice if I could really offer you some nice present when you come to this page, but think about it: Anything I could offer you would break soon, fade, chip, or maybe end up stolen. Even if none of these things happened, you would find that the joy you once had when you got your gift would last exactly two seconds. Then it's on to the next item of your desire, and so on, and so forth. None of these things brings lasting happiness.

Ah, but not so with the things God gives! And the very best gift God has to offer is free to you. That doesn't mean it didn't come at a price. It came at a very heavy price, but God paid it Himself. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world (put your name in place of "the world") that he gave his only begotten Son (that's Jesus), that whoever believes on him should not perish (suffer eternal separation from God in hell), but have everlasting life (heaven)." (John 3:16) Jesus died on a cross and rose from the dead to give you the best gift ever: eternal life with God in heaven. If you ask Jesus to save you from your sin (the bad things we all say, think and do), God will forgive you. He will come into your life and make you a brand new person. And you will have the sure knowledge that heaven will be your home forever. There is no better gift I could ever offer you. And it costs you nothing in that you could never earn it. But it costs you everything too in that you must give your whole self to Jesus. Won't you take this free gift today? I promise you, you'll never be sorry!

But I know Jesus died to pay for all of the bad things I have done. He rose from the dead for me. I trust in what Jesus did to save me from sin. Now I give my heart and my life to You. Make me a new person. Thank You for saving me, God, and for giving me the wonderful promise of heaven, my eternal home. Amen.
